The City of Lakewood (on behalf of the 26 Cities of Southeast Los Angeles County) established a low-cost, readily available telecommunication technology to reduce the amount of non-commute work trips and Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) in the subregion. The teleconferencing network was made available to trade associations and Chambers of Commerce in the subregion. The project served as a model and defined and calibrated teleconferencing systems.
