Contractor purchased twenty-eight liquid propane gas (LPG) powered shuttle buses for use at the Ontario airport. Buses are Eldorado National FE-MST twenty-two foot vehicles with ADA wheelchair lifts. The buses utilize the Cummins B5.0 factory propane engine rated at 195 horsepower. Contractor installed a 30,000 gallon propane tank refueling facility adjacent to Ampco's existing facility. The new facility has two locations for refueling vehicles. One location is primarily for the contractor's use. The second location is open to the public and to private companies for refueling LNG powered automobiles.

The emissions were reduced by the use of propane which is cleaner than compressed natural gas (CNG) by 87 percent in hydrocarbons, 50 percent lower in nitrogen oxides, and 40 percent lower in particulate matter. The emissions reduction realized by use of the shuttle bus rather than automobiles on a 24-hour, 7 day per week basis is substantial.
Details of the re-fueling station, with the increased fire protection devices required by the Ontario Fire Department delineated, and hours of bus service with ridership statistics. Mileage charts for the buses between refueling are included.
