Clean Transportation Funding from the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee (MSRC) will be expanding its Work Program from a one-year to a two-year funding cycle for fiscal years 2012-13 through 2013-14. The Work Program comprises the categories of projects for which the MSRC will make funding available in the upcoming fiscal years. The MSRC has approximately $14 million in Clean Transportation Funding available each fiscal year, so expanding the Work Program to two years will pool nearly $30 million to invest in Southern California. This approach will provide more applicants the chance to seek funding for projects that reduce emissions from mobile sources. This also will give the MSRC even more flexibility to expand the types of project categories it can fund. “Through the regional Work Program workshops we conducted this summer and direct feedback we received from stakeholders, we know there is a need for more funding and more projects that think ‘outside-the-box,’ especially in these tight economic times,” said Greg Winterbottom, Chair of the MSRC. “A two-year work program will enable the MSRC to better serve the needs of our project applicants.” The first round of program solicitations is expected to be released as early as Spring 2013.
