Clean Air Roadmap - March, 2019
It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of MSRC Member and former MSRC Chair Greg Pettis. He passed away on January 15, 2019, at the age of 63. Greg served distinctively on the MSRC for a decade, representing the Riverside County Transportation Commission. He led the MSRC for five consecutive terms as Chair of the Committee from 2013 to 2018. Greg was the Mayor of Cathedral City, where he had served on the City Council since 1994, and was the City’s longest-serving Councilmember.
On a very windy, late January morning, MSRC Member Steve Veres joined Santa Clarita Mayor Marsha McClean and representatives from the offices of several local elected officials to cut the ribbon to officially open the City’s newest electric vehicle charging station. The charger is located at the local Metrolink Station at 22122 Soledad Canyon Road. The charging station will help further bridge the clean transportation options for local residents because commuters can now drive their zero-emission EVs to hop on lower-emission public transit.
Long Beach Councilmember Rex Richardson knows that engaging communities and small businesses is especially key for designing and enacting successful and sustainable air quality policies. That’s why he’s especially excited to be a new member of the MSRC. He officially joined the MSRC in January as the representative from the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), but he has been a part of the clean air movement in the region for much longer.
