Project Background

Contractor leased four 1999 Hondas powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) and installed a fast-fill facility to service the vehicles. The fast-fill facility was constructed on City land at the intersection of I-405 and Seal Beach Blvd. Two of the vehicles were assigned to the Building Inspectors. Two were used as "pool" cars for Engineering, Parks & Recreation, and Planning Departments. It was anticipated the vehicles would be used for travel within Orange and Los Angeles Counties as well as for local uses.

Project Implementation

The City of Seal Beach planned to use the vehicles locally and on trips through both Los Angeles and Orange Counties. The expanded use of the vehicles extends their emission reduction qualities beyond the limits of Seal Beach. Any area through which the vehicles travel will benefit from the reduced emissions.

Annual emission reduction - 200 pounds. Total emission reductions - 600 pounds of combined pollutants.
