Project Background

Contractor purchased three original equipment manufacturer (OEM) Ford Econovans which run on compressed natural gas (CNG) for use by the Long Beach Unified School District. The vans will be used to transport mail, serve as a taxi service for employees between destinations, and errands as determined by the School District.

Project Implementation

The City of Long Beach purchased the vehicles for the Long Beach Unified School District. Travel of the vehicles will be primarily in Long Beach. Surrounding communities, especially those inland, will benefit from the cleaner air as the wind direction is from off-shore.

Annual emission reduction - .0235 tons. Total emissions reductions over the life of the contract - 1.88 tons.
