Contractor constructed a regional commuter bikeway, crossing State Route 241 (The Foothill Transportation Corrider (FTC)) located in an unincorporated territory of southeastern Orange County. The project overcame a physical barrier to this bikeway that impeded its viability as a commuter facility by constructing a bridge over the FTC. The project enhanced the bikeway's value as a commuter facility by providing a safe, direct, and continuous means of crossing the corridor. The bridge, 500 feet long, became a part of the existing bikeway. The Trabuco Creek Trail extends fifteen miles linking Foothill communities to coastal cities and an Amtrak/Metrolink rail line. The trail became one of Orange County's "Mountain to the Sea" trails.

The trail runs from Trabuco Mesa Park on the north through Rancho Santa Margarita and Mission Viejo ending at Tijeras Creek. The trail will connect with other bike trails to be built at a later date as part of the trail program which will ultimately criss-cross the State of California. The areas of Orange County in the vicinity of the trail will benefit from the increase in bicycling and walking as a means of reaching transportation centers in lieu of pollution producing vehicles.
