Voltu Motor Pilots 10 Class 3 Electric Work Trucks with the City of Riverside

Voltu Motor will deploy 10 new Ford F350 Class 2B/3 medium-duty electric pickup trucks as part of a pilot project for the City of Riverside’s Fleet Initiative. The MSRC is providing $300,000 in Clean Transportation Funding in partnership with the South Coast Air Quality Management District, which is contributing $300,000 from its Clean Fuels Program Fund, to help support this initiative.

These high performance Voltu3 electric work trucks will showcase state-of-the art patented on-board fast-charging systems and advanced powertrain technologies. This system enables fast-charging up to 200 kW from three-phase alternating current power, eliminating the need for traditional charging infrastructure and helping to reduce operational costs while ensuring efficiency.

Voltu estimates that each electric truck will save at least $6,150 in fuel costs annually. The Voltu3 delivers up to 350 miles of range and dual-motor four-wheel-drive capabilities – matching or exceeding the performance of comparable internal combustion engine vehicles.

Originally based in Argentina, Voltu celebrated the establishment of their new global headquarters in the City of Riverside last November. These will be the first Class 3 zero-emission work trucks to be delivered out of Voltu’s new manufacturing site. The City has already ordered 20 additional electric trucks from the company that will help staff maintain the City’s water and electric infrastructure, repair streets, and service its parks.

Voltu Motor will collaborate with UC Riverside’s Center for Environmental Research and Technology that will perform data analytics for six months following deployment to evaluate the pilot.
