Contractor repaired and constructed 5,300 feet of sidewalk on the south side of Baseline Road. Previously, the sidewalks were intermittent. The completion of the project made it convenient for pedestrians to walk to stores, schools and churches without being forced into the street to remain on solid surfaces. Contractor also included ramps for handicap access, curbing, and driveway cuts in the construction project.

The south side of Baseline Road in the City of Claremont now has continuous sidewalks. Areas north and south of Baseline benefit from a pedestrian standpoint and communities east of Claremont receive the benefit of cleaner air due to prevailing winds.
Emission reductions were not calculated as the pedestrian traffic, which increased as a result of this project, was already emission free. The number of vehicles reduced due to this project was not measurable.
