Project Background

Contractor converted 20 heavy duty vehicles to CNG, two paramedic vehicles, 2 shuttle buses, 7 Crown buses, and 9 Bluebird buses. Southern California Gas Company funded the expansion of the fueling station to accommodate the amount of fuel required by this conversion.

Project Implementation

The City of Compton school buses operate within the school district confines. The paramedic vehicles have the same parameters. Other communities in the vicinity of Compton, particularly those downwind will benefit from the reduction in emissions.

Project Results Description

Each of the 20 converted units are driven 19,500 miles per year. The emission reductions are estimated to be: Carbon Monoxide, 491.8l pounds per year; Reactive Organic Gases (ROG), 51.67 pounds per year; and Oxide of Nitrogen (NOx), 68.80 pounds per year.
