Project Background

The contractor retired 10 diesel-fueled transit buses and replaced them with new, compressed natural gas (CNG) fueled buses. This included an expansion of the bus fleet by ten considering the purchase of 20 new CNG transit buses. Additionally, both transit riders and non-transit riders have extended positive comments to Culver City expressing appreciation for the smooth riding buses and the absence of black smoke emanating from these newer CNG buses.

Project Results Description

The annual reduction of oxides of nitrogen is expected to exceed 19,000 pounds. The potential lifetime emission reduction for the oxides of nitrogen is estimated to be in excess of 228,000 pounds or 114 tons.
