In October 2004, the MSRC accepted the Citys grant application for $60,000 to be used to offset the cost of replacing three heavy-duty vehicles. The AQMD formally approved the grant funding in July 2005.

The project was completed in January 2009. There have been no issues with the vehicles.

As a result of this project, the City is able to operate its routes of para-transit buses with new vehicles, saving high maintenance costs over the old buses and providing reliable service to the residents of Inglewood, Hawthorne and Lennox. In addition, the City is better able to repair its streets with the new pothole patcher. The operation of the three CNG vehicles is expected to reduce air pollutants as follows: 3,200 lbs. per year ROG 2,500 lbs. per year of NOX 1,825 lbs. of PM10
