In 2007, MSRC awarded the City of Garden Grove $75,000 to offset costs needed to upgrade the City's fleet of heavy-duty vehicles with compressed natural gas.
The total cost of three trucks were $517,020.
No administrative costs were associated with this grant.
The purchase of three CNG vehicles were completed. Three custom dump-bed CNG construction trucks were placed into the City fleet and is currently in use. The trucks are necessary to complete street and water main capital improvement projects.
To replace the City's three diesel-fuel vehicles and aid in the reduction of air pollutants by City equipment.
The City still has over 10 diesel-fuel vehicles that need to be replaced. The City will continue its efforts to budget and find funding for these replacements.
According to the Air Resources Board, removing just one Tier 2 Diesel engine dump truck will eliminate 832 grams of carcinogenic diesel pollutants from the air we breath.
