Ware Disposal has been operating in the South Coast Air Basin since 1968, currently operating a fleet of over 65 trucks throughout Orange and Los Angeles Counties and providing refuse collection services for residential as well as commercial customers. Ware Disposal partnered with Clean Energy to purchase, deploy and fuel the new fleet of refuse collection trucks.
The new CNG refuse trucks are equipped with the Cummins ISL G 8.9 liter natural gas engine. This engine is certified by the California Air Resources Board and is the lowest-emitting engine for oxides of nitrogen (NOX) commercially available.
This contract provides $123,353 in funding to offset the costs of purchasing and deploying four (4) CNG refuse collection trucks ($30,838 per truck). Ware Disposal provided the remaining capital for this purchase, a total of $972,042.
The four new natural gas refuse trucks displace a total of approximately 36,000 gallons of diesel fuel annual. This will result in reductions in diesel particulate matter, oxides of nitrogen (an ozone precursor pollutant), as well as substantial amounts of greenhouse gas emissions.
Ware Disposal is currently operating the four vehicles in revenue service and has not encountered any significant issues with the CNG vehicles since their deployment. The new vehicles have provided reliable performance and have received positive feedback from Ware Disposal drivers and customers.
