The City of Glendora began conversion of its cutaway bus fleet back in 2011 with the purchase of is first CNG fueled vehicle with help from the MSRC. The City has continued its efforts to have a clean fuel transit fleet and since 2011 has added a second CNG cutaway bus to the fleet and will now be adding a third.
This cutaway bus has been purchase and is not in operation along the City's Commuter Shuttle routes, Dial-A-Ride services as well as a summer shuttle service called the Glendora Express.
The goal of this project was to continue to convert the existing gasoline cutaway fleet to CNG. The City has also made it a goal to move forward with low-floor bus options to increase the comfort level of ADA trips. The City's goal was to purchase one Arboc, low-floor, CNG cutaway.
We hope to continue replacing and expanding the City's transit fleet with alternative fuel vehicles.
This vehicle has provided positive results for our transit services and the community is excited and happy to see that we are doing our part to reduce congestion and improve air quality within the region.
City staff would like to thank Kelly Mills at A to Z Bus Sales for helping staff obtain the best vehicle for the City and to CalACT for making the purchase easy and possible through the Vehicle Purchasing Co-op. We would also like to thank the MSRC for this opportunity to off-set the cost of this CNG vehicle and are looking forward to many more partnership opportunities!
