Project Background

Contractor expanded a Metrolink commuter rail station. The expansion of the early 1900's station added approximately 2400 square feet, included "commuter friendly" businesses (cafe/coffee shop, dry cleaner pick-up and a magazine/newspaper stand. The parking area was expanded by 60-80 spaces.

The City of Rialto, primarily. As the appeal of rail transit replaces the desire to drive gasoline-powered vehicles, travelers in surrounding areas become commuters removing emission-causing vehicles from the streets, thereby reducing the pollutants in the air.

Annual emission reductions: 6,640 pounds. Total over project life: 53,120 pounds.
