Clean Air Roadmap - March, 2021
Sydney Vergis is the California Air Resources Board’s (CARB’s) Division Chief for the mobile source control division and one of the newest MSRC members. Vergis brings a wealth of experience to her role on the MSRC where she hopes to contribute to the MSRC’s important Goods Movement portfolio of clean transportation investments including heavy duty truck transportation and warehouse trucking. She also believes the MSRC can play a strong role in supporting municipal and regional transit electrification projects that are vital to contributing towards improving air quality in Southern California.
The City of El Monte is doing its part to help improve local air quality by purchasing the first ever zero-emission heavy-duty vehicle in the city’s fleet – a new electric heavy-duty flatbed work truck. The Public Works Maintenance Department will use the new 2019 Ford E-450 Super-duty flatbed truck for maintenance activities throughout the city. It is the main vehicle they use to service their transit and trolley stations.
We are featuring six more iconic/prototypical clean transportation investments that the MSRC has made through the years as part of celebrating three decades of transformative projects that have helped clean up our air. Metrolink to the Auto Club Speedway, Rossmoor Pastries CNG Delivery Vans, School buses and infrastructure, Ports Clean Trucks program, Traffic signal synchronization projects, and Sukut Construction repowered equipment.
